Review of The Kid with a Bike (2011) by Bill C — 16 Jun 2013
Co-directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne flirt with the grandiose premise that a random act of kindness can alter the destiny of an eleven year old boy set on a course of disaster by contemporary European social engineering.
They appear to have neither the cinematic skill-set or the requisite insight to come even remotely close to pulling this fable off. Sadly miscast, poorly written and without context, this undefined film eventually abandons us to fend for ourselves ( much like Cyril's father ).
