Review of The Kautokeino Rebellion (2008) by Bjørnhild V — 13 Feb 2008
This film should be mandatory for everyone in Norway! Strong words but maybe I'm a little partial. Some may think this film should be more like Veiviseren (The pathfinder) but Kautokeino 1852 is based on actual history and not Sami myth.
The story has many nuances that can be lost for non-Norwegians or Sami but behind there is a message for everyone about better understanding. Some aspects could be broadened but all in all this is a great movie based on a tragic moment in 1852.
The last words that rolls over the screen stands as a reminder of this.
