Review of The Karate Kid Part III (1989) by Timothy S — 03 Jul 2008
A misfire in many ways. Macchio was great in the first two, but it was as if he aged ten years between II and III. I dunno... bloated or something. He looked old, but still acted like a bratty teenager.
Pat Morita was reliably good, as usual. Thomas Ian Griffith brought some energy to the film. Martin Kove's character is one of the great villains of the 80s. The young villain is forgettable, as is Daniel-San's new love interest (ho-hum, another girlfriend from a prior sequel written out of the series).
Too bad, as I do love the Karate Kid series.
