Review of The Karate Kid (2010) by Ernst M — 28 Dec 2011
There are many things that could of made this movie a heck of a lot better, like axing 30 minutes from the movie and not have certain scenes play out exactly as the original. The thing that saves this movie for me was the obvious charisma of Jaden Smith.
Heâ??s gonna have a hard time getting out his dadâ??s shadow with inflections in voice and looks that screams Will Smith but as he getâ??s older I think heâ??ll has the charisma to blaze his own trail.
Also, I donâ??t know if any of it was movie magic but the martial art sceneâ??s performed by Jaden Smith with amazing. A special kudoâ??s to Jackie Chan for a well done performance as the older mentor.
Itâ??s just a shame that this movie had to borderline on corny so many times and have scenes/schticks develop far too slowly. Never even mind the whole why was it called Karate Kid when there wasnâ??t any Karate in it.
.. sigh.
