Review of The Karate Kid (1984) by Mohd K — 27 Nov 2012
The Karate Kid remake may be a great movie, with Jackie Chan, Will Smith's son and all, but only the original Karate Kid with "Mr. Miyagi" can shed tears and brings joy to my heart every time I watch it. The relationship between Mr. Miyagi and his titular Danny is inspirational, and heart warming, something the character "Mr. Han" from the remake fails to achieve. Their chemistry together is simply the best on-screen friendship I ever saw, and has become legendary. Whenever I see any mentor-mentee relationship in a movie, I always think of the memories of Mr. Miyagi & Daniel.
There's a lot to learn about life on the 126 running minutes of this movie. Whenever life grinds to a halt, whenever I stumble upon difficulties, or whenever my heart took a blow, this movie is the answer. And tonight, when my spirits are down, it has once again successfully lift it up and warms my nite.
