Review of The Juror (1996) by Movie K — 20 Jun 2016

Average thriller. I feel the duration is too long though. Single mother Demi Moore has a son Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She makes "feel" art pieces for a living. One day she is selected for jury duty.

James Gandolfini and Alec Baldwin follow her and Alec go to her home to plant hearing bugs and takes a liking of her. Alec pretend to buy her 3 artworks to get near her. On the 1st sort-of date, he reveal his intention.

That is to vote not guilty and persuade other juries against his mob boss Tony Lo Bianco on trial for murder. Demi comply because her son is in danger. Anne Heche is her best friend and she tell her to talk to the judge.

It didn't work because the judge won't listen until the attorney and lawyer are witnessing the process. Demi don't want anyone to come into their life for now. During the debate, she manage to slowly persuade other juries her findings and convince the not guilty charge.

Tony walks a free man. Alec still didn't want to let Demi away from his life. Anne has a new boyfriend and it turns out to be Alec. He make love with her and kill her with pills, making it look like suicide.

This is done to continue torture and instill fear to Demi. Lindsay Crouse the prosecutor know Demi is been threaten and want her to help them back. Demi took Joseph to Guantamela to find her ex-boyfriend and put him there for safety.

Alec amazingly somehow hack the airline system and found out where they gone to. Demi return back and ask to meet Alec. She approach Lindsay and demand a recorder. But upon meeting, she show Alec and James the wire and get James to take the wire and go away.

Demi talk to Alec and he says he will protect her and love her. Demi secretly recorded the conversation and Alec said he will kill Tony eventually and for the time being let him stay on. She pass to Tony hoping he will kill Alec.

At the meet up, Alec return the money he got paid. Tony order his kill. Alec already planted bomb in the money case and it blow Tony up in his limo and he kills everyone else. Alec call Demi and say he is gonna kill Joseph.

Demi reach later than Alec and pay alot to charter a plane to reach the city in time. Alec found Joseph and chase him to a isolated ruin. Turns out the hiding boy is a man with rifle and Alec is shot, surrounded by the ambush.

Demi take his gun and point at him. Alec still try to take a gun from his ankle to shoot Joseph and Demi shot him dead with many rounds.
