Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Dennisncecille N — 04 Sep 2016
In a world full of CGI, I would normally destroy a film for basing their entire film on computer visuals instead of a great story. The fact that we all know and are well familiar with this all time classic leaves little to be expanded on, as far as plot and story goes that is.
But, if it's one thing that this updated live CGI action film did justice to this cherished classic was the visuals gave this story a whole new look and life to it. The Jungle Book not only impresses but it surpasses all its CGI brethren of films.
From the look of the jungle to the facial animations of the animals, it's mesmerizing to say the least. The breathtaking visuals add a visceral look to it's all non-threatening cartoon animation counterparts with their loud vicious roars, low growls, and threatening animalistic sounds.
The sound is truly spectacular immersing you in the depths of the jungle making you feel every step in the mud hearing rain create percussion sounds as it lands on the bed rock. What brings these animals to life is their amazing voice actors giving A+ performances.
This film may not bring much to the forefront of story telling but it's visuals will you talking and pleasantly satisfied for months to come until the next Disney live action film arrives. I'm looking at you Beauty and the Beast.
(8/10).
