Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Brandon L — 27 Feb 2017
An enjoyable film that was better than I expected it to be. I still fault it for relying too heavily on celebrity voices instead of professional voice actors. In a few years, whether you recognize a particular actor will matter far less than how convincing and emotive they are.
Still, the visuals are amazing and the world is entirely convincing.
In a couple of odd places, the films shifts gears into musical numbers in the tradition of the original, but offers no reason for their sudden appearance and subsequent disappearance.
So, a good movie with a few irksome flaws.
