The Jungle Book is the perfect example of a film that is a remake of a prior movie but understood properly what to do differently while retaining the core elements of what makes its original effective and good.

And it is a rare example where a remake absolutely surpasses it's predecessor by answering the question to why it exists and does new things with the journey of its main character Mowgli. There are many great supporting characters like Shere Khan, Bagheera, and Baloo brought to life with photorealistic animation CGI whom you believe are real because of the effect and great acting by esteemed actors.

But the movie belongs to Mowgli as it is this character whom you follow on the journey that is the movie - which the original film doesn't really have by the way. The Jungle Book with excellent special effects, character, story, humor, and fun is a superb motion picture and earns five stars.
