Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Isaac J — 08 Aug 2016
Though visually pleasing, The Jungle Book fails to capture any of the heart and charm of the original animated film. Without this, Jon Favreau succeeds in creating a bland, dull and poorly scripted remake, relying constantly on visual pleasure, rather than on plot or character.
Though Bill Murray and Idris Elba give good performances, the lead, in Neel Sethi, may be some of the worst child acting we've seen since Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Overall, despite plenty of pleasing eye candy, The Jungle Book seems content to settle with "okay", falling disappointingly below the so high expectations.
