This movie, while it looks great, takes the fun out of the original. The CG in this movie is fantastic probably some of the best in recent year and the blending of a live action child in the completely computer generated environment is impressive.
My biggest problem with this movie is the tone. While I like dark movies, I don't think I wanted or needed this movie to be as intense and dark as it is at times. I personally wouldn't recommend this movie for small children and I don't think it is complex and well written enough for adult audiences.
Overall, its a decent movie that just didn't need to be made in the fashion that it was made.
