Review of The Jungle Book (2016) by Dave M — 07 Sep 2016
Man's Red Flower Rules Them All. Disney's 2016 live-action remake of "The Jungle Book" is a fabulous piece of storytelling and family fun. The story was very well written, and the film was brilliantly made and directed.
The voice acting was superbly casted, and I thought this movie was better than the original Animated film from 1967. But Parents take heed; this is not for little one's. I heard too many children under 6 crying (50+ screaming unhappy children who were not babies) in several "intense/dark" spots throughout the film.
(this movie's PG means 6+). Outside of this, I think it will be a surefire family classic for decades to come. The best part is that they left 2 of the Sherman Brothers' classic songs which lightened up the film and kept it from being too dark to enjoy.
4.3/5 stars. Theater-worthy and very enjoyable.
