Review of The Joy Luck Club (1993) by Mandy . — 18 Mar 2010
A wonderful film about the intertwined stories of a group of 4 Chinese mothers and ther American-born daughters. Through the stories of their lives, the mothers try to teach ther daughters lessons from the hardships they endured.
While the film does have many flashbacks and stories, it is effectlively told. One becomes engrossed in the film and the lives of these characters. The the stories are about the lives of these Chinese woman, but they are easily relatable and transcend cultural boundaries.
The only slight drawback to it is that it is a somewhat long film, but one that is worth watching.
