Review of The Jewel of the Nile (1985) by Tyler M — 07 Jun 2010
In this sequel to the classic,"Romancing the Stone", they lost that speacil touch, I admired so much in the original. It had potential to be a great film, but they relased the film one year after they realeased the original, thats not the case to create a worthy sequel.
Also, instead of searching for a lost treasure they put in it's place, a crazy spiritual leader. The only part I admire in the film is the first maybe 15 minutes, when they show Jacks, and Joan relationship 6 months after the events of the first film.
But after that, the film goes down hill, and we see a stero-typical villian that is so stupid in a film that requires a strong villian. If Diane Thomas (the writter of Romancing the Stone) was around to write this film, it could of actually have been good.
It was chessy, poorly acted, and horribly written. I can see why this film killed the franchise.
