Review of The Jerk (1979) by Andreas C — 27 Apr 2013
A none too bright man struggles through life until an unlikely invention makes him unbelievably wealthy. A strange precursor to Forrest Gump which balances a fine line between absurd surrealism and careless aimlessness.
Though the running joke eventually loses momentum, Steve Martin in his first career defining cinema role and first collaboration with director Carl Reiner is at the height of his comic powers.
