Review of The Jazz Singer (1927) by Carlos R — 17 Sep 2010
Good silent/sound film. Al Jolson was great and the acting was generally good. It's a film with a simple and predictable story, but its biggest virtue is that it's a film with heart, it's really beautiful in some scenes and that's the best of this film.
The end was too predictable and weak, but that didn't make worse the rest of the film. A pioneer and an important film in film history, much better than expected and I think it was very good.
