Review of The Jane Austen Book Club (2007) by Christina M — 15 Feb 2009
Women and books. Now what can come from a harmless book club? A lot of things apparently, for books, especially those about human interaction for they describe situations we have either been in, want to be in or fear to be in. Books describe us. The movie is like a grown up version of The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants. It's great to see women being there for one another especially during hard times. Like Jane Austen's books, each of the women have their fair share of unexpressed needs and wants and through discussions in the book club, those needs and wants are brought to the surface.
I liked it. Good rental. Makes me want to watch Sense and Sensibility with Emma Thompson.
