Review of The Jane Austen Book Club (2007) by Catharina Wartiainen M — 12 Aug 2009
With such cast, and Jane Austen in the title, how could this film be so pointless and boring? Were my expectations too high? How could someone hire so very talented people like Emily Blunt, Maria Bello or Hugh Dancy and ruin it all? Or was that the point and I didn't get it? Was it a "chick flick"? I doubt it, and even if it was, and not being a big fan of those, there are some that at least become "guilty pleasures", but not this one.
Is it edgy? No; a "chick flick"? No... What was it then? Very disappointing indeed.
