Review of The Jacket (2005) by Paul W — 31 Jul 2010
If for some reason after watching The Jacket (or King Kong or The Pianist for that matter) and you're still not an Adrien Brody fan, you must be completely out of your mind! I really enjoyed some of his other work but after seeing him in this one I definitely am a Brody whore! John Maybury directs this twisted and mind expanding film from 2005.
Again, this movie focuses on dreams, and throws in a little time travel for good measure. Keira Knightley stands out as a woman with a haunted past who sees past Jack Starks (Brody) own haunted past and goes out of her way to help him.
Daniel Craig does a convincing job as an inmate who also helps Jack try to figure out the only thing he wantes to know, "how do I die?" Kris Kristofferson pitches in as a doctor trying to do some good to some folks that probably wouldn't have had a chance anyway.
The film does a great job as a slow build, focusing on the characters to make you care about what happens to them. In the end you are hoping that Jack finds out everything he wants to. And I personally love the way it ends!
