The jacket offers nothing new. its almost identical to 12 monkeys, but not nearly as good as 12 monkeys. the main difference between the jacket and 12 monkeys is the jacket doesn't tie things up. there's a lot of points that it didn't care to make clear or justify. while this works very well in some movies, it certainly doesn't in the jacket.
Having said that, I think the jacket had a lot of potential that wasn't realise, and brody's performance was pretty good in it.
