Review of The Italian Job (1969) by James-Masaki R — 03 Aug 2011
"You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" and "Remember in this country, they drive on the wrong side of the road." So many incredible lines of dialogue in "The Italian Job" and 40 years later, it still entertains immensely, and had no shame in it being so British.
Michael Caine, Noel Coward, Benny Hill, that may sound like enough to fulfill, but with music by Quincy Jones, some of the best car chases ever filmed, courtesy Remy Julien's driving push this well over the edge of anything else at the time.
And you have one of the most memorable endings ever. "I've got an idea!".
