Review of The Italian (2005) by Matthew L — 11 Feb 2008
Moving story of a tough Russian orphan named Vanya who gets adopted by an Italian family, but then wonders where his true mother lives. And off he goes, looking for her towns away. His obstacles in finding her include troublesome teen thugs, dangerous alleyway company, and the orphanage's greedy madam, who seeks Vanya's return.
The film speaks of the triumphs of responsible parenting and stemming one's avarice for the sake of the children, naturally.
