Review of The Isle (2000) by Kris K — 16 Dec 2008

This is one of the most twisted and shocking movies I have seen. I had to cover my eyes!! However its is a very compelling watch. This film makes American movies look like kindergarten comics or fables.

There are a lot of other reviews that go into more of what the movie is about. I rate it very original very dreamy with great cinematography. the isolation of the place makes a big effect on you. I thought I had seen a powerful movie when I saw the Korean film "OLD BOY" and its still powerful and a shocker, but something about The Isle is just downright creepy and unsettling.

I liked the idea of the isolation and the mute woman. Mysterious.. This movie is not for the faint of heart. and ABSOLUTELY NOT FOR KIDS. One could examine all the psychological effects of the film the hows wheres whens whys.

but for me I just say if you are serious about film and tired of American movies watch this all the way through and reflect on it a day or two. WOW is all I can say. Sushi Eaters Beware! Ha Ha Je Je!! The ending was kind of a let down.
