Review of The Island (2006) by J Chris J — 11 Nov 2012
Cloning has long been a controversial subject and in the wrong hands, the subject matter can be bastardized into something else entirely. In a film where clones are bred & their bodies harvested for the sole purpose of keeping the wealthy alive longer, Michael "Make It Go Boom" Bay approaches the first half of the film masterfully, the ethics of cloning and the horror of self realization of being a harvested clone are brought to an in your face level, but when 2 clones escape, Bay retreats from the interesting to the "Make It Go Boom" approach.
It has great actors & Sean Bean proves time & again that he is one of the best actors in the business.
