Review of The Island (2005) by Jake D — 29 Jul 2011

Well this isn't Bay's worst attempt for a film that would most definitely be Transformers 2.

This movie offers up some interesting ideas, but the way it was done was way to "extravagant". This was a bit more action packed than it needed to be. So in short Micheal Bay was not the right director for this movie.

I also didn't really like how the characters were childlike. When watching the movie you can see, and understand why they act the way they do, but for me it did not work. The actors weren't awful, but both Ewan McGregor , and Scarlett Johansson have both done a lot better work than this.

We also get a very underused Steve Buscemi, and a very, very, very underused Micheal Clarke Duncan (I'm aware he's not a g"great" actor, but he's still a big enough name, and descent enough to deserve a way, way bigger part than what he got.

The movie is probably not worth seeking out by any means, and the only reason I watched it is because a friend of mine let me borrow it, but it's one of those movies that you should really only watch if there is nothing really all that great on television, and you are to lazy to go outside. I can definitely see why this movie either was, or is deemed forgotten, or forgettable.
