Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Gabriella P — 14 Aug 2012
I genuinely fell asleep during this one - something I never do. This movie to me, doesn't have a point. If it were supposed to be about a once powerful woman now coming to terms with dementia, it failed. If was supposed to be a biopic of Margaret Thatcher's life, it failed.
It was superficial and didn't delve into any particular event or problem in any great detail. It felt thrown together. This is disappointing, because if the film spent more time focussing on the senile Thatcher, looking back every now and again at her career, it could have explorered some very interesting issues.
Sadly, it jumped back and forth without any purpose but to show off the phenomenal character acting of Meryl Streep - whom both stars of this review are awarded to.
