Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Rocco C — 17 Jan 2013
We all knew that Hitler's evil was carried out to musical score by Wagner, but we learn from this film that Thatch plotted hers to the songs from Rogers and Hammerstein, specifically The King and I.
Meryl Streep is absolutely outstanding as the Wicked Witch, although it is often quite hard to work out who is who amongst the rest of the cabinet, other than Anthony Head as the long-suffering Geoffrey Howe and Richard E Grant as the Blessed Michael Hesseltine, who finally rid us of her.
I couldn't quite place who that was playing Young Denis until I realised it was Viserys Targaryen from Game of Thrones. Jim Broadbent's Old Dennis reappears throughout as a sort of Ghost of Evil Past, reminding her of all the wickedness she's done.
