Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Paul S — 07 Dec 2012
I finally rented this film as I missed it in the theater. I was incredibly excited to see the film, and I thought the perfect actress was selected.
To my dismay, however, my excited was soon spent and replaced by mild irritation and boredom. Pushing aside the depressing overtones as we enter Ms. Thatchers last days I tried to still enjoy the film, but I found myself deeply annoyed by the fact that the director clearly has ADD (and thinks we do too). This film can't seem to make up its mind whether to pitch its tent in the past or "present" as we cut to and from flashbacks so quickly I can barely keep up. Just I as I gain footing in the past the film rips me back into the "present", and frankly I wouldn't begrudge anyone who was unable to keep up with the story.
Ultimately, I turned the film off, and I give it two stars merely on the basis Ms. Streep's great as usual performance.
