Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Ashley G — 22 Feb 2013
Meryl Streep does a great job as always, but her performance can't save this movie. The plot is unfocused and meandering. It would have been a much stronger film if it focused on a few events that defined her (maybe the Falklands War?) rather than trying to cover everything and doing it poorly.
It glances over key moments in her life but fails to develop them. It's too bad because I don't know much about Margaret Thatcher and was hoping this film could educate me a bit, but instead it feels like a wasted opportunity.
