Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Chris O — 03 Oct 2013
I give this five stars for two words alone: Meryl Streep. The movie script is a bit sloppy in terms of narrative arc, the direction is a bit hackneyed and inconsistent. However, the performance Meryl Streep delivers trumps all.
I know some were surprised and upset that she beat out other performance, especially Viola Davis for "The Help." But Streep's third Oscar is more than well-deserved. Streep carried her role with such authority and conviction, it was not her but the Iron Lady in the flesh who stepped out of the scree and practically demanded our attention and the Academy Award.
