Review of The Iron Giant (1999) by Omar H — 30 Apr 2011
How nice to see an animated film without any saccharin Disneyfied crap thrown in. Sometimes animated films make the mistake of patronising children and presuming that they have all the emotional depth of a puddle and the intelligence of a bar stool.
This film doesn't fall into that trap at all. The central character has some depth, the bad guy seems genuinely human and evil rather than the simple panto-bad guys most children would be familiar with.
This film is touching, heart warming and genuine. It should be on a 'must watch' list for all children, and adults with child tendencies.
