Review of The Iron Giant (1999) by Chad D — 11 Jul 2013
Call it an "E.T copy" all you want, but at the end of the day--'The Iron Giant' is a fantastic film. It has spectacular visuals, it's "aww" moments, and as the film concludes: an ass-kicking robot.
One thing I do really like is the way the film builds up. Back when VCR still reigned supreme over home media, I'd see trailers of this film, and I was hesitant. I thought it looked uninteresting and it seemed as though everything you had to see was already in the trailer.
Even if that's true, there's no denying that 'The Iron Giant' is unforgettable. Nice going, Warner Bros. for not realizing that you had pure gold in your hands. Another highlight would be the film's orchestral score and the work of the voice-actors--it was all well done, actually.
I wish I could say that this film was part of my childhood but I didn't watch it until I was a bit older (6th grade-ish).
