Due to poor marketing efforts The Iron Giant is massively under-viewed and thus massively underrated. Though it's cell animation it reeks of Pixar quality from every pore due to Brad Bird direction no doubt.

I can see how it could be constructed as preachy by some but at its core we all can learn something from the relationship between a boy and his giant metal friend and its only as preachy as you are unable to project yourself onto it.

Brilliant writing brought out by fantastic direction the film's arc encompasses so much without smothering. Voice acting by Jennifer Anniston, Vin Diesel and fellow cast is executed to perfect fit. Its one of those animated features where you forget you're not watching actual human beings. Immersive. Sublime. Endearing. Sincere. Humbling. Inspirational.

The only potential downside for today's viewers is it can be a bit slow during developmental times for those used to the 2015 fast-cut short-attention span built films of today.

Something for everyone; kids and adults a like. Best acting done by Vin Diesel in his entire career, if you ask me. Five stars. See it.
