Review of The Invisible Man Returns (1940) by John C — 05 Feb 2009
Following up the superb feature 'The Invisible Man' with 'The Invisible Man Returns' is a no-brainer. It was nice to see the series didn't resurrect Claude Rains, but rather open a new tale with the same devious serum.
Featuring Vincent Price in one of the earliest roles in his distinguished career, this film should be noted for expanding the 'Invisible Man' storyline rather than simply emulating it. I found the film entertaining in a murder mystery kind of way which changed the tone enough to minimmize comparisons to the original tale.
In an age where sequels are generally a fraction of what their predecessors were, it is nice to look back and see how sequels should be done.
