"The Invention of Lying" is a quirky and inventive comedy that covers obvious material, such as the ideas of truth and falsity, and not so obvious material, like religion and atheism with a fair amount of creativity.
It struggles a bit with the "obligatory" romance subplot of the story, which comes off as a bit forced, but overall Gervais' performance carries the film to its acceptable conclusion.
