Review of The Intruder (1962) by Alex P — 19 Jul 2007
A wonderfully powerful performance from Shatner, playing a charismatic racist trying to destabilise a small Southern town. The Stax version isn't the greatest print, particularly at the beginning but I'll forgive the scratches as it's so worth seeing. This must have been really shocking in the 1960s and it still has a lot of power now, much of it coming from the coupling of the cast with Corman's strong direction.
Dispels any rumour that Shatner's not a good actor :-).
