Review of The Intruder (1962) by Anita L — 09 Jan 2010
Shatner is always interesting to watch. Here he plays a outside agitator trying to get a small southern town to revolt against forced school integration. The location filming gives this a great look. It is a bit overblown (you have to start wondering if Cramer is really the devil) and startling with the liberal use of the "N" word, particularly by Shatner and the local bigwig, played here by a guy who is most familiar as the mayor of Mayberry.
Writers Charles Beaumont and George Clayton Johnson both have supporting parts and frequent "Maverick" co-star Leo Gordon has the part of his life as a traveling salesman. But its Shatner that makes or breaks this film.
