Review of The Interrupters (2011) by Alvin Y — 10 Jan 2012
I believe that the society today is nothing but a fearsome and a pride one. They're all the same, in which they refer themselves as a people. Alrighty, let's go back to business! The Interrupters, is truly believe it or not, one of the best documentaries of the year, and also the best of the year. The story is really persuasive and realistic/honest. Those people that are interviewed are not actors, they're human beings in which violence changed their lives and other people. This is a film where at one moment I start to pause and think about the world today. Does the government care about this gang related violence not just only in Chicago? At one scene in this movie, a man said, how come our president is black, and he can't be able to help his fellow citizens? The movie surely makes a lot of strong points about what we're seeing as an innocent people. Those young ones who died in violence are no joke, seriously, they're young and prone to a violence like that. Imagine the director must be also absorbed by these people's stories. And after the film ended, I concluded that even the time has passed, you may or may not expect again a killing that is gang related, what is going on now in USA? And yet, I forgot also how good the performances are, direction, editing, cinematography, and everything else because of me being more inspired and deeply involved and connected with these people.
I now say finally, this and yes this documentary could be my number 1 best film of 2011 and Hugo could now be my number 2. It's really the kind of movie experience where also you learn about your society and it's stories about you know? The Interrupters, you definitely need to see this! A very powerful and an important film about our society today, this is really a very enthusiastic high recommendation from me. See it for yourself, you will never forget this movie and/or those people interviewed and those who died. Just watch it now seriously, and if it's not yet in DVD, then relax, it's gonna come soon right?
