Review of The Interrupters (2011) by Fungusgnat — 04 Nov 2015
James captures well the endemic nature of the violence and the breadth of pain and fear it causes. There are a few emotional scenes, perhaps the most so being a former robber’s attempt to reconcile with a victim.
The movie does not seem to have a strong dramatic movement, though, from one situation to a different one. James just keeps us going around and around. Well, of course, it’s a documentary, and the filmmaker can only work with the material available.
