Review of The Internship (2013) by Robert I — 27 Dec 2013
Misguided. Shot as an R-Rated follow up to "Wedding Crashes", I cannot imagine what the PG-13 cut was like. It's never funny, my skin was crawling throughout most of it... But there is one MVP scene toward the end where the boys are making a sale.
At over 2 hours, there is no reason for this film to be so long... But this climactic scene actually slowing down and taking its time worked extremely well. When a scene has to stop a movie dead in its tracks, that's normally a bad thing, but here it's done to remind you why these two are the protagonists.
Unfortunately, a character in the following scene spells out the whole point and significance of that to the audience. Because, let's face it, if they truly laughed and enjoyed this entire movie, chances are they needed that explained to them.
