Lowell Bergman (Pacino): I'm Lowell Bergmann, I'm from 60 Minutes. You know, you take the 60 Minutes out of that sentence, nobody returns your phone call.

What you would expect from high caliber performers like Plummer, Pacino and Crowe- high caliber performances. I don't know if the subject matter, the intrigue was the real reason this movie was so fascinating or the fact that I've watched Mike Wallace on t.v. and am fairly familiar with the program "60 minutes". It's always interesting to watch A-listers playing real people and not just a "character". The story was interesting, the intrigue was delicious and the struggle was just heart-breaking. Unfortunately, after all the heartache and their valiant efforts it just seems that it was all for naught because even though there was a posting after the film *****SPOILER ALERT***** that the big tobacco companies were successfully sued and had to pay billions of dollars in class action law suits; it just doesn't seem to make a difference now, tobacco is still big business and I'm sure the companies are still setting record-profits, many people still smoke and at younger age. It seems all the efforts done in order to curb societies addiction to smoking has failed. As noble as this film's intentions were, it's just too little too late.
