Review of The Insider (1999) by Erika C — 25 Jan 2015
Well done. However, it was too long of a movie, but it was based on a true story after all. Michael Mann is one of those great, but too underrated, directors out there. Real gripping story, amazed this all happened within the CBS News & 60 Minutes news corporations.
Christopher Plummer as 60 minutes news anchor Mike Wallace was a brilliant choice for sure. A few scenes that really stood out. Of course, Russell Crowe & Al Pacino both did very well. Too bad this film didn't get enough commercial recognition that it deserved, but it was amongst many other great films of 1999 then.
This film explores the morals of the journalism/news corporation/tobacco industry. If one's looking for a political biopic type film, this one is good to watch for sure.
