Review of The Innkeepers (2011) by Peter B — 27 May 2012
"The Innkeepers" offers infantile thrills and shocks, no real story to the reason there are ghosts in this little hotel and the ending doesn't really satisfy emotionally. I think what I did like about this film, however, were the two main characters - especially the lead girl - and the pacing and suspense created by the director and the score. The cinematography was good, too - it all served the story. However, the story - again - was too thin.
But, all in all... not bad. I enjoyed it despite its flaws. It's no "The Shining" or "The Ring", but also, not as in-your-face or over-the-top as most "scary movies" today. Still, worth watching, even if just for the cheap thrills. ;).
