Review of The Innkeepers (2011) by Shelby C — 11 Feb 2014
Strangely enough this has become my favorite movie of the last few years. I love the slow build style of horror perfected by director Ti West. What seems to be a slacker comedy featuring geeky Pat Healy as Luke, and beautiful, would be geek Claire, played by Sara Paxton, turns into an edge of your seat thriller with unexpected emotional heft.
Bonus treat: Girls star Lena Dunham as a barista and Kelly McGillis (looking rough) as an actress/spiritualist. Filmed at the real life hotel the Yankee Pedlar in Connecticut (said to be haunted) The Innkeeper's is a perfect little horror movie.
Ti West is supposed to release a new film in 2014. I can't wait.
