Review of The Innkeepers (2011) by Luke A — 27 Mar 2014
Not really a comedy and not really a horror, so what is it? The only thing watchable about it is Sarah Paxton simply because shes an easy dime, not because shes a good actress (in this movie at least.) But she does have this charm and ditziness about her that is mildly likable.
Another thing that bothers me is the fact it was made in 2012, when it seems as if it would be acceptable entertainment for the late 90's and early 2000's.... so to me its more evidence that the horror genre is devolving.
Oh and also, its as predictable as falling rain and shoots itself in the foot by prolonging the beginning, something that usually works, but not for this movie because its a carbon copy of dozens of other horror movies.
And another thing, it made no effort to convince the audience that their might be a possibility that supernatural entities exist...it just kind of said "This is it. I'm your average horror movie, if you don't buy into it, go fuck yourself.
" In other words, you have to possess a little bit of belief in the supernatural before viewing, if not, you'll be thoroughly annoyed.
