This was a really intriguing movie. Watching Mark Whitacre as he buries himself deeper with his compulsive lying is like watching a slow motion train wreck. It's impossible to look away. The mental voiceovers are a terrific device to show just how disconnected he is as he tries to do the right thing, but finds ways to snatch defeat repeatedly from the jaws of victory.
