Review of The Informant! (2009) by Mårten K — 17 Sep 2010
Superb tragicomedy with stellar performances all round. It may have been sold as a comedy, and there is a comedic touch to the style of storytelling for sure, but the story itself is in no way humorous.
This is Confessions of a Dangerous Mind without the the coolness or the thriller treatment, with more than a subtle hint of Ed Wood. A tragic human being in a tragic world, in a movie that has a lot to say about mankind and it's often rather pathetic social constructs.
Awesome! But don't go looking for cheap laughs and shallow entertainment, or you'll (hopefully) be thoroughly disappointed.
