Review of The Imposter (2012) by Janna M — 25 Oct 2012
This is a dramatic and tense documentary about a man who claims to be a 17 year old Texas boy who disappeared 3 years earlier. He's taken in by the boy's family who are overjoyed and relieved to have him back but his story slowly unravels as the FBI conducts an investigation to catch his abductors.
Through interviews with most of the participants in the story, from an FBI agent and a diplomat in Spain where the missing boy appeared, to the imposter himself, the film explores themes such as loss, grief, self-deception and the need for acceptance and love.
