In a world that is no longer shocked by images of mass destruction and sudden death, The Impossible could have been an all blazing special effects ridden story of the American dream being saved by the humanity's requirement to be family.

Instead the makers of this amazing film, allow the subtleties of human emotions compounded by the events around them to drive the narrative. Well directed and excellently written, the cast are totally believable, the events scarily realistic, the emotions palpable; I never cried so much.

Testament to how good this film is, is the fact I don't mind admitting how much it made me cry. Cinema at its best!
