Review of The Impossible (2012) by John P — 28 Mar 2014
4 Stars: The massive horrendous impact of the tremendous disaster and tragedy is outside the scope of this film. It is important to accept that and just be drawn into the impossible survival of this family.
Based on a true story, but not a documentary, gives us a mixture of reality and artistic license. Unfortunately, the emphasis on plot and manipulation (contrived suspense?) casts doubt upon the entire veracity of the film.
Are the actors extraordinary, or coddled and overly dramatic. It is impossible for me to decide.
